Sun and Moon
Sun and Moon

The aspiration is to gain self agency over the oppressive and coercive power. How might individual subjects recognise their own status and the conditions that dominate and shape them? And how might we proactively utilise this entrenched and stable part of ourselves for our benefit?

Analog Replication as Basis to Defy 3D Fabrication
Analog Replication as Basis to Defy 3D Fabrication

The project reflects on modern 3D fabrication techniques. Different techniques (sculpting, casting, and drawing) and materials (plasticine, super sculpey, silicon rubber, plaster, soy wax, and beeswax) are used in the process to study/ mimic the idea of 3D modelling, 3D rendering, and 3D animating. The sculptures are eventually juxtaposed with 3D drawings and 3D printed objects of the same subject to leave an open discussion of the usage of 3D technology.

Cultures of Play
Cultures of Play

France’s most famous chef, Alain Ducasse, insists, “You can mix two styles and get fusion; any more, and you just get confusion.” But many would argue the opposite. Fusion is not confusion. Fusion does not only occur in gastronomy, it happens when any two things meet. It is only natural for one culture to acculturate into another and maintain aspects of its culture, while at the same time the other culture would also fuses aspects off the culture into their culture to create a fused intercultural identity. One might even think cultural appropriation is an essential aspect of cultural development, and in fact, a beneficial aspect of cultural creativity and exchange.

Discussion of Bodily Awareness
Discussion of Bodily Awareness

Everyone goes through a time of change during which the human body transforms from that of a child to the body of an adult. It is important to relate to our body, including understanding the way to perceive it, control it and affectively react to what happens to it. We use the body, but we rarely reflect upon it. How might we design a tool to help raising up bodily awareness and thus, developing positive body image through co-create sessions with kids?

The Supermarket Shopper
The Supermarket Shopper

What will the future supermarket shopper be like? The aim of the project is to encourage sustainability in everyday life. It gives a sneak peak at what a future Supermarket Shopper would be like. It demonstrates how your daily grocery shopping could turn into a game-based experience. And how the shops' marketing scams could be translated into a more shopper and environment friendly scenario. The project offers a solution in the form of a conceptual AR game. The goal of the game is to decrease excessive buying and food waste, as well to enable better buying habit and healthy diet.

3D Printed Tactile Vases
3D Printed Tactile Vases

This is a set of vases designed to show and compare different ranges and densities of the tactile textures caused by not turning the cooling fan on during 3D printing (a controlled error in the printing process).

Metabolism as Hat
Metabolism as Hat

The interaction between the structure and human body is designed to be consciously conceived. The structure covers the hear and the head supports the structure. The mobile covers are used to adjust the orientation of light and wind flow.

I read interviews and critics about the original work by Tehching Hsieh before I tied myself with Ellen. In one of the interviews that I read, Tehching Hsieh said, “I don’t want to say ‘my work is about that’ because then it won’t be about another thing, it needs to be open. I want for people to feel like this is a universal conversation. My work always touches on time and life.” And in most critics, people wrote about “Existentialism”……

The Lazy Caregiver
The Lazy Caregiver

I started to develop the hobby of keeping plants after moving to Eindhoven. The fact that almost all houseplants are from tropical or subtropical region reminds me of my hometown, Taiwan, a subtropical island in the Pacific Ocean. Being surrounded by plants makes me feel warm and secured. However, because I had zero experience with plants, I was surprised to discover the difficulties of taking care of them. And the task has become tougher since the number of my houseplant is continuously increasing. I feel they need more attention than what I’m capable of giving. I decided to combine my plants with everyday objects, so that I could take care of them within my habitual routine and thus, reduce the effort I put into taking care of them.

Seed to Food
Seed to Food

Seed to Food introduces and promotes an effective system that best utilises natural resources across our food and drink culture. Our Farm offers a variety of services: we grow seasonal vegetables and fruit for our exclusive members and provide hands-on experiences that allow members to cultivate, harvest, make utensils with food waste, and cook with healthy organic fresh picks. We are building a world where everyone has access to healthy food and establishes connection with the land. Our aspirational goal is to eliminate waste in the process from Seed to Food. This project showcases how the system actually works.
